Happy Birthday Ryan

It is absolutely amazing to believe that it was 10 years ago when our first child was born. In so many ways it seems like yesterday, but as we watch him turn into a young man we realize the time is going by too quickly. We have to savor every moment because otherwise we'll miss out. Remembering back, what a precious moment to hold your first born child for the first time. Such a scary time, but fulfilling. We feel blessed for all God has given us.

We made the 10th a BIG birthday for Ryan. He invited 8 of his friends over (yes, 9 boys in all with him). Since we picked them up at 3:00 they have: swam at the McPherson Waterpark,

played basketball, eaten grilled burgers and hot dogs, walked to my mom & dad's golf course (1/4 mile away), opened gifts, eaten cake and ice cream,

played MLB baseball on the Wii, taken a hay rack ride in the dark to mom and dad's golf course,

played night golf (with golf balls that have glow sticks in them),

watched National Treasurer 2, and of course stayed up late. Only 2 have fallen asleep so far and it is after 12:30 am. We will finish off the party in the morning with pancakes. It isn't over yet, but I am prematurely saying it has been a success. Let's hope the next 9 hours go just as well. What a great day Ryan --- Happy Birthday!!!

I remember being in KinderMusic with our babes in 1999.

Evan just went to his first overnight camp too - Swan Lake - where John & I met in 1987. Sweet to read that you're walking a similar path with Ryan.

You are so right. We must embrace this time with them.

oops - it was Tyler that went to camp . . . with 4 cherubs you're constantly dealing with firsts! More power to you, Womyn!

It was Tyler that WENT to camp, but Ryan leaves for the 5 day camp at Camp Mennoscah on Sunday the 5th. Again, another 1st --- for that long.
