As 5th grade teachers, Kaitlen and I decided it would be a great to get the kids involved in some project for Haiti. So, we undertook making quilts to send there through MCC (Mennonite Central Committee -
www.mcc.org) When we discussed details, we decided to tackle making 3 different quilts:
A Creole Alphabet Quilt

An animal quilt

A Creole/English number quilt

The students did an excellent job making the blocks with fabric markers. On Friday we tied the quilts and then we'll drop them off in Newton to have them sent to Haiti. This has been a great project!

These quilts take my breath away! LOVE that you did the Creole alphabet - learning about those you're helping. Bravo, Mrs. Huxman - what a mental hug from all your 5th graders!
